LEADERSHIP SKILLS:

FOCUS:  Developing quality meeting planning and management skills.

TOPICS:

• Meeting preparation.
• Meeting facilitation: setting objectives, priorities, closure and follow-up.
• Presentation styles, abilities, and skills.
• Methods of conflict resolution, group dynamics, and running effective meetings.
• Skills necessary for effective volunteerism and fundraising.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT & THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM:

FOCUS:  Developing an understanding of the functions, purposes,
and operation of local governmental offices, the judicial system,
and the law enforcement process.

TOPICS:

•  The functions, roles and purposes of federal and local (county, city, twp., village) governmental agencies.
• Jurisdiction and operation of the county court system.
• The interrelationship between the judicial system and other agencies.

COMMUNITY NEEDS & SERVICES:

FOCUS:  The County’s growing human resource needs and the agencies
designed to meet those needs.

• The functions and services of local and county-wide agencies/organizations.
• A road map to interagency relationships.
• Private/non-profit groups and associations that address human resource needs.
• Effective grant writing resources and skills.

GROWTH PATTERNS IN TUSCOLA COUNTY:

FOCUS:  The impact of past and present development and demographic
trends on organizations, agencies, and community relations that
may affect future land use and demographic changes in Tuscola County.
